Clyde Allen ’56, Eden Prairie, on 12/8/23. Clyde had an extensive career with Remington Rand Univac, which later became Lockheed Martin. Retiring in 1996 as the vice president of programs and tactical defense systems. He later started his own business, Clyde Allen Consulting. He was an active volunteer for Gustavus, including service on the Gustavus Board of Trustees 1982–2000, with two terms as the Board Chair. He was also the recipient of the 2000 Greater Gustavus Award for having notably aided and advanced Gustavus Adolphus College. He is survived by his wife, Lois Madsen Allen ’59, and a son, Mark Allen ’86.
Philip L. Eckman ’55, Duluth, on 11/1/23. A fourth-generation Gustie, Phil pursued a career in medicine, serving the Duluth Clinic as a general surgeon. He particularly enjoyed taking care of children through his pediatric surgery practice. He was a community volunteer and leader, serving on the Gustavus Board of Trustees from 1976–1982. He is survived by his wife, Julie, and two children, including Philip Eckman ’88.
