The thousands who’ve attended and worked at Tennis & Life Camps throughout the past 50 years no doubt can still recite those “three crowns.” Indeed, TLC still does what Steve and Barb Wilkinson always dreamed—make tennis a tool for teaching character. “When people ask me what Tennis & Life Camps are about, I tell them it’s not really about tennis,” says director Neal Hagberg ’81. “It’s about what kind of person you become when you play the game and when you enter life.” Says Cal Carlson ’17, who was once a young TLC camper, a Gustie student-athlete, and a TLC staffer, and who is now associate director of TLC, “You come as you are, and you learn who you can be.” Here are some of the best times had at Tennis & Life Camps, (and, consequently, at tennis and at life).
