Alumni teachers and current student teachers at Tri-City United Public Schools (Montgomery, LeCenter, and Lonsdale) rallied in Gustie gear as school began this fall. Dan Murray ’86 recently attended his 10th Kraftskiva celebration at the Swedish Embassy in D.C. He presented Deputy Ambassador Jonas Wendel with a Gustavus scarf and invited him to try it out sometime in a Minnesota January. Based on the scale of singing, eating and drinking, Dan is convinced that the Swedish and the Irish share a common heritage.

Erin Cederlind ’01 was chosen as the community liaison officer of the Year by the American Foreign Service Association. She works in the Community Liaison Office at the U.S. Embassy in Djibouti. She was joined at the reception by fellow Gustie Megan Carey ’01, a management and program analyst for the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (not pictured).
These Class of 2005 Gusties all work for UnitedHealth Group Medicare & Retirement. L to r: David Myers, CFO, retiree solutions; Steph Handahl Benson, marketing strategy/chief of staff; Alysen Farran Pratt, performance management; Kari Leif Wynnemar, VP, technical product management, Optum Technology (UHC is parent company of Optum); Ben Eklo, CFO. Alysen and Steph were roommates at Gustavus.
Peter Asplin ’92 and Kristen Hoffmann Asplin ’92 came from Pittsburgh to see Christmas in Christ Chapel, and to see their daughter, Johanna ’27. Peter wore his Gustavus Bands jacket.
These Gusties call themselves the Satellite Sisters, an ode to the popular podcast. They met up for the Satellite Sisters Big Fun weekend in Minneapolis in October. Listeners were invited to a recording and a “Mamma Mia” dance party.
