Rolf Olson ’93 is Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Accra, Ghana.

A career Foreign Service Officer with the Department of State since 2001, he has served at U.S. Embassies in East Africa and the rest of the African continent, Bolivia, Venezuela, Guyana, and Pakistan, and in Washington for the Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM).

He received a Distinguished Alumni Citation from Gustavus in 2025.

The Distinguished Alumni Citation from Gustavus Adolphus College recognizes outstanding and exceptional career achievement of graduates of the College and includes criteria such as the difficulty of accomplishment; quality, creativity, and distinctiveness of performance; humanitarian achievements; recognition by peers; and lasting contribution to the world of ideas and affairs.
